Will it fit my saw? ▾
It fits the most common hobby and farm saws with bars up to approx. 55 cm (22"). What matters is the chain pitch – it's stamped on the bar or the chain box (e.g. 3/8" LP, .325" or 3/8"). Choose the grinding stone that matches the pitch. If you're unsure, send us a photo of the bar.
How do I sharpen? ▾
Switch off the saw and remove the battery or the spark plug cap. Clamp the sharpener onto the bar with the wing screws, set it to the chain pitch once, and crank a few turns per tooth. Move the chain one tooth forward by hand – the stop catches the next tooth – and carry on. Sharpen all the teeth on one side first, then flip the sharpener and do the other side.
How long does it take? ▾
A regular hobby chain takes 5–10 minutes once you've done it a couple of times. The first time is a bit slower.
Does it sharpen the depth gauges too? ▾
No. The depth gauges (the small "noses" in front of each tooth) need to be filed down with a flat file and a file guide every third or fourth sharpening. It takes two minutes, and it's what lets the sharp teeth bite.
Is it safe? ▾
Yes, when the saw is off: remove the battery or the spark plug cap before you start, wear gloves – the teeth are sharp – and only release the chain brake while you move the chain by hand. A chain that's worn down or has damaged teeth should be replaced, not sharpened.

If the saw doesn't cut better after sharpening, send the sharpener back and get your money back. All year. No questions, no hassle.

Why buy a new chain when it's just dull?

The saw smokes, cuts crooked and spits sawdust. You lean on it – and the log still isn't done.

Sawdust instead of chips?

That's the sign of a dull chain. Sharpen it and the big, white chips come back.

Filed it crooked before?

The angle slips when your arm gets tired, and the saw pulls to one side. Here the angle is built into the frame.

Tired of driving to a sharpening service?

Sharpen the chain where you are – at the cabin, in the forest or in the garage. No power, no bench.

Use it wherever the saw is

In the woodshed, at the cabin and out in the forest. It needs no power and stays in your pocket until the next refuel.

How it works

Clamp it on the bar

Two wing screws and the sharpener is fixed to the bar. The chain stays on the saw the whole time.

The angle is locked

The frame holds the same angle and height on every tooth – left and right sides come out the same.

Crank and move one tooth

A few turns of the crank, move the chain one tooth forward, and the stop catches the next. The whole chain in a few minutes.

Small enough for your pocket

No power, no battery and no bench. It lives in your jacket pocket or the toolbox by the saw.
